LabPro Series
High-precision, fully customized laboratory presses for the most demanding R&D and quality control applications
The Fontijne Presses LabPro Series represents a range of highly configurable hydraulic laboratory presses designed for the most demanding applications in research, development, and quality control.
Known for their exceptional precision, uniform pressing performance, and maximum flexibility, the LabPro presses set new standards in process accuracy and reliability.
Depending on configuration, the LabPro Series can be equipped with closing forces exceeding 5,000 kN, while also performing processes that require very low forces of 10 kN or less – always with the same accuracy and repeatability.
The LabPro is a floor-standing, fully automated hydraulic press that can be tailored precisely to the user’s individual requirements.
Thanks to the integrated Preset Builder, up to 999 press programs can be created, stored, and recalled at any time – ideal for recurring processes and standardized testing procedures.
Like all Fontijne Presses laboratory systems, the LabPro Series is CE-certified and engineered with a strong focus on operator safety.
It features a fixed upper platen, an emergency stop system, and a transparent safety enclosure to ensure maximum protection during operation.
A wide range of options is available for the LabPro Series – including a powerful vacuum system that allows operation at temperatures up to 700 °C under vacuum or in defined gas atmospheres.
Additional configurations such as oil heating, active cooling systems, fast heating technology, cassette cooling, and customized openings and platen sizes are also available.
Control is provided through the advanced ProView system with a 15-inch touchscreen interface.
It allows precise control of temperature, closing force, and optional process parameters such as vacuum or cooling.
The large and intuitive display offers a clear overview of all settings and process values, ensuring maximum convenience and process transparency.
An integrated automatic venting/degassing cycle opens and closes the press after a preset time interval, ensuring optimal degassing during the pressing process.
With its unique combination of power, precision, and modular design, the LabPro Series is the ideal choice for laboratories and research centers that demand the highest levels of quality, repeatability, and process control.

Options – LabPro Series
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Active Cooling System | Automated water-cooling of the press plates, controlled by electric valves. This allows the press to be quickly prepared for applications requiring lower temperature setpoints. On request, the cooling system can be configured in accordance with ASTM D4703, achieving a cooling rate of 15 °C/min. The system also cools the frame, keeping the housing temperature close to ambient conditions. |
| Vacuum System | The press chamber can be evacuated using a vacuum pump integrated into the LabPro base table. This enables testing under vacuum (30–40 mbar) and at temperatures up to 700 °C, either without oxygen or under inert gases such as nitrogen or argon. The vacuum parameters can be programmed, and the pump is controlled via our Programmable or ProView software. After pressing, the chamber can be easily vented. Optional features include tempered glass windows, chamber lighting, electrical feedthroughs, or multiple openings between the upper and lower plates. All modifications comply with CE safety standards. |
| Heating Capacity up to 700 °C | The heating capacity of the LabPro Series can be extended up to 700 °C, allowing a broader range of sample materials to be processed. |
| Fast Heating System | When equipped with the fast heating option, the LabPro press can reach heating rates of up to 20 °C per minute. This reduces heating time to 8 minutes to reach 180 °C (instead of 16) and 19 minutes to reach 400 °C (instead of 38). |
| Customized Openings and Plate Sizes | The daylight opening (distance between upper and lower plates) and plate sizes can be customized on request. It is also possible to add multiple openings, allowing a larger number of samples to be processed in a single press cycle. Each opening can have its own heating and cooling parameters. |
| Oil Heating | Compared to electrically heated plates, oil-heated plates provide an even more homogeneous temperature distribution across the pressing surface. |
| Cassette Cooling System | The cassette cooling system consists of two water-cooled plates that can be moved horizontally – manually or motorized – between the heating plates. The cassette can also move vertically together with the press plates to enable cooling under pressure. This system allows extremely fast cooling rates of up to 280 °C per minute. Because the heating plates remain continuously heated while the cooling plates remain cooled, the system saves both energy and time compared to traditional methods that require plates to be reheated after each cycle. |
| Floating Upper Plate (Ultra-Low Closing Force < 10 kN) | A secondary pneumatic system enables weightless closing of the floating upper plate. This option is ideal for applications requiring very low closing forces (0–10 kN). For higher forces, the standard hydraulic system is used. |
| Steel, Aluminum, or Copper Plates | Optional press plates made of steel, aluminum, or copper allow for specific temperature distribution profiles. If high surface pressures are required, hardened or special plate materials can be supplied. |
| Extended Warranty & Maintenance Plan | The standard warranty can be extended upon request. Fontijne Presses also offers preventive maintenance and professional calibration services to ensure consistent long-term performance and reliability. |
| Additional Options | - Exhaust Hood: Mounted on top of the press and connectable to an existing ventilation system via a Jacob Ø200 mm flange. - Automatic Venting/Degassing Cycle: Automatically opens and closes the press after a preset time (1–99 cycles) to optimize degassing during pressing. - Light Signal: Visual indication at the end of the press cycle. - Sound Signal: Audible signal indicating the end of a press cycle. |
| Custom Design | If you would like to customize your press to meet specific requirements, Fontijne Presses will be happy to develop a tailor-made solution and provide an individual quotation. |
